International Cherry Blossom Festival - Macon, GA

Witness more than 350,000 Yoshino cherry trees in Macon, about 80 miles south of Atlanta. In fact, Macon has one of the most magnificent displays of colorful blooms in the world and celebrates this pink explosion every spring with the International Cherry Blossom Festival for 10 days! 

Kids enjoy the wiener dog races, sea lion show, and the parade with colorful floats and marching bands. Purchase an armband for unlimited amusement rides at Carolyn Crayton Park. In addition to the beautiful flowers, the festival celebrates spring with a 5K, cherry blossom royalty, nightly concerts, delicious food, tethered hot-air balloon rides, and more. March 14-24, 2024

Brookhaven Cherry Blossom Festival - Brookhaven, GA

The Brookhaven Cherry Blossom Festival draws in 45,000 people during the FREE, two-day celebration each spring at Brookhaven's Blackburn Park. This year's musical lineup includes Barenaked Ladies, Sister Hazel, and Lisa Loeb -- all for FREE! The city's two-day festival also features an artists' market, car show, food, and kids area with inflatables, face painting, games, and lots more. March 23-24, 2024

Conyers Cherry Blossom Festival - Conyers, GA

Since 1982, the City of Conyers has been celebrating the return of spring with its cherry blossom festival. This FREE event pays homage to Asian culture, where the short-lived beauty that is the cherry blossom originated. Shop over 300 arts and crafts booths while watching international music and dance performances, and food. Let the kids spend time in the children's area with age-appropriate games, activities, and pony rides. March 23-24, 2024

Nashville Cherry Blossom Festival - Nashville, TN

Drive a few hours northwest to the Nashville Cherry Blossom Festival in April. Kids learn about Japanese culture with martial arts demonstrations, origami activities, traditional Japanese dance performances, anime, and Japanese food offerings from vendors. Sumo-suit wrestling is always a favorite with families as well as the 2.5-mile Cherry Blossom Walk. April 13, 2024

Cherry Blossoms Near Atlanta: Parks & Gardens

Gibbs Gardens - Ball Ground, GA

Gibbs Gardens in spring is a floral kaleidoscope, and this gorgeous garden features hundreds of Yoshino cherry trees (the same that bloom in Washington D.C.) as well as Kwanzan cherries, which bloom slightly later and have double pink blooms. Besides the delicate cherry blossoms, witness the blankets of daffodils blooming about the same time.

Carolyn Crayton Park - Macon, GA

As the center of activity for Macon's International Cherry Blossom Festival, Carolyn Crayton Park (previously called Central City Park) bursts with gorgeous cherry blossom trees. Wander through Macon's largest and oldest (dating back to 1826!) park which provides a picturesque view of local nature. Hop in the car to follow the Cherry Blossom Driving Trail through Macon’s residential areas which showcase a large concentration of cherry blossoms.

Piedmont Park - Atlanta, GA

Atlanta's green jewel is midtown's Piedmont Park, home of the upcoming Dogwood Festival. This massive park offers hundreds of different species of trees, including Yoshino and black cherry trees, in addition to walking trails, playgrounds, and a farmers market. The best places to spot these cherry blossoms in Piedmont Park are the north woods and the northeast corner of Lake Clara Meer.

Chastain Memorial Park – Buckhead, GA

Take one of our favorite stroller-friendly hikes around Chastain Park to welcome warmer temps and get fresh air. You’ll find a row of cherry blossoms blooming along the trail next to the golf course along Lake Forest Drive. Be sure to let the kids burn off extra energy on the playground.
