Mostly Free & Fun Things to Do this Weekend with Westchester Kids: Tree Lightings, Hanukkah Parties, Turkeys & More, Nov 23 & 24

The holiday celebrations are here and there is plenty to do this weekend in Westchester with the kids. Enjoy a holiday tree lighting at Cross County Shopping Center, turkey fun at Westmoreland Sanctuary and Teatown Lake Reservation or Hershel and the Hannukah Goblins at Rosenthal JCC.

Two great theater performances can be seen this weekend. Exit Stage Left at the Emelin Theatre in Mamaroneck blends tap dance, live music, and slapstick comedy and offers an energetic show for younger audiences. Shrek the Musical will be performed all weekend long at the Yorktown Stage.The UBS Parade Spectacular on Sunday brings with it giant helium balloons floating through Stamford’s downtown. Foofa & Plex from Yo Gabba Gabba, Barbar & Badou and a Smurf will all make their debut this year. There is a balloon inflation party on Saturday as well where you can get a backstage look at the balloons as they come to life.

Holiday Tree Lighting at Cross County Yonkers
The 40 foot tree will be lit while a live holiday concert is held with the East Coast Band featuring American Idol finalist Big Mike. Enjoy carolers, visits from Santa and the chance to win tickets to Z100’s Jingle Ball concert in December at Madison Square Garden. FREE.

Turkey Time at Teatown Ossining
Take the family to discover a little more about turkeys in time for their big day. Make a craft, listen to a story, and take a short hike to learn more about their natural history. $5.

Gobble Gobble at Westmoreland Sanctuary Mount Kisco
Learn some not so well known turkey facts and venture outside to collect leaves to make leaf turkeys to take home. $5.

Exit Stage Left Mamaroneck
Blending tap dance, live music, and slapstick this energetic, inventive, and dynamic show is great for younger audiences. $13.

Children’s Yoga at Athleta Scarsdale
Fun filled class of yoga poses, music, massage, and peacetime. Classes build focus and concentration and build confidence and self esteem. FREE.

SUNDAY

PJ Library Event at JCC Harrison
Alyssa Satin Capucilli, author of the Biscuit the Dog series, joins the fun with a book reading and arts and crafts. FREE.

Hershel & the Hanukkah Goblins Pleasantville
Toddlers will enjoy latkes, jelly donuts, and crafts before this interactive performance.  A “Light It Up” party follows with glow sticks, DJ style music, and more crafts. $12.

Holiday Decorations at Muscoot Farm Mount Kisco
Join in to make holiday decorations for your home with the Muscoot Junior Volunteers. They will guide you through projects to take home and decorate your tree or table. FREE.

The Dreidel House Mamaroneck
A Chanukah Wonderland with candle making, storytimes, latke and donut making, Chanukah rainbow loom, games, crafts, and a Chanukah store. FREE.

BEYOND WESTCHESTER

If you find yourself in Stamford, CT, on Sunday, check out the UBS Parade Spectacular. Giant helium balloons are the biggest part of this spectacular parade. Foofa & Plex from Yo Gabba Gabba, Barbar & Badou and a Smurf will all make their debut this year.
