Exploring White Post Farms' New Giraffe Experience

The new, 8,000-square-foot giraffe space at White Post Farms is home to Savanna, who was born in August 2022 and was the first giraffe born on Long Island. The experience also features her two parents, Patches and Oliver.

The giraffe space is near the entrance to White Post Farms, which is known for its garden shop and farmer's market in addition to its terrific animal farm. When entering the farm, make your first left, walk past the goats, and the giraffe experience–which has an African-inspired theme–will be looming ahead, just past the pony rides. The architecture, decor, and size of the exhibit rival the facilities at much larger zoos. There is a wonderfully landscaped outdoor enclosure and feeding area for warm days, as well as an indoor enclosure with heated floors for days when the weather isn't cooperating.

Insider Tips for Visiting White Post Farms' New Giraffe Encounter

There's less wait time to enter the attraction on weekdays than on weekends. During peak times, the wait can be an hour or more, but when the farm isn't crowded you can walk right in. You are also free to visit the giraffe encounter multiple times during your visit that day; there is no limit. The animal farm is open every day from 10am-5pm and lets visitors stay on the property until 6pm.
