Is it time to toss or upgrade your child's car seat? Beginning on April 14, 2024, Target will recycle your expired, damaged, or just yucky goldfish-crusted and stained one and help you save on a new model through its popular car seat trade-in event. Whether you're expecting a new baby, or simply sizing up, read on for all the details on this year's trade-in program.

Here’s how it works: from Sunday, April 14 to Saturday, April 27, bring any unwanted car seats (boosters, bases, infant, toddler – any and all of 'em, including expired seats) to your local Target store for its trade-in event and receive 20 percent off one car seat, stroller, or select baby gear. The 20% discount can be applied to both in-store and online purchases and is valid from April 14 through May 11, 2024; the discount can even be redeemed twice!

Simply bring your used car seat to a drop-off box located near Guest Services, scan the code on the drop-off box, and the discount will appear in your Target Wallet App.

It’s a win-win for parents and the environment. Materials from the old car seats are recycled by Target’s partners into new things such as pallets, plastic buckets, and construction materials. Since 2016, Target has recycled over 2.6 million car seats, or more than 39 million pounds of plastic—and counting.
