Spiderman Visits White Post Farms-Chances are you've visited a time or two or ten by now. We love White Post Farms because there is always something going on there, and this weekend is no exception. The Amazing Spiderman is coming to WPF to meet and greet his fans all weekend long. And make sure to bring a set of dry clothes with you, since your kids will be cooling off on the splash and bounce gigantic waterslides. Admission is $12, and the website has even more information about what White Post has to offer this weekend.

Scottish Games-Old Westbury Gardens is a throwback to the Gatsby era and is a beautiful spot to visit any time of year. On the National Register of Historic Places, this mansion and the property was once home to a wealthy North Shore family who occupied it early in the 20th century, but now is open to visit and tour. With plenty of events year round, this weekend, OWG is hosting the Highland Games. Complete with dance and music performance this Scottish cultural festival includes live Irish dancing, traditional Scottish games like the caber toss, and sheaf putting, and traditional Scottish food and live music. For the kids, there are micro versions of the games, only without the heavy tools (like tug of war), face painting and a petting zoo. The festival starts early, with the games themselves starting at noon. Admission: Adults $15/Children $5 And check out their website by clicking here for more information.

Annual Hampton Classic Horse Show-Whether you have a budding little equestrian in your family or not, visiting this famous horse show is a terrific way to spend a day if you happen to be out East this weekend. And while Sunday is only day one of the event, and the events are light, it is one of the best days to check out the kids tent which has miniature horses, ponies and a petting zoo. Usually there is plenty of parking and and less crowded restaurants at the beginning of the week as well. The show lasts a week, and while Kids Day is scheduled for Saturday, August 29, and admission for all kids is free that day, 6 and under are free everyday and you won't have to beat the crowds Sunday to check out most of the same exhibitions. Check the website for more details about the show. Adult admission is $10 per adult or $20 per carload.

Tiny's Hatch Day and Tortoise Pageant-For an event of smaller "scale", the Cold Spring Harbor Fish Hatchery is hosting a birthday party for it's semi-famous snapping turtle, Tiny, on Sunday. At over 70 pounds and somewhere between 50 and 100 years old, Tiny will host an education on the process of turtle hatching and more importantly, the annual Tortoise pageant. Afterwards, check out all the other aquatic life in the ponds, pools, and platforms. Events start at 1pm and admission is free. Check out their website for additional details and exhibits.
