Giveaway: Exit Cuckoo is Nanny Diaries with Heart

When you're up to your elbows in BPA-free sippy cups, it can be hard to remember that we live in the theatre arts capital of the world. But hidden all over this city are treasures that can remind us to take advantage of the terrific talent and culture NYC has to offer.
Like, did you know that right now through the 10th of August , the Midtown International Theatre Festival is taking place? One of the highlights of the festival is a play called Exit Cuckoo, a clever and witty take on child-rearing in today's NYC. Written and performed by Lisa Ramirez, I think this is a play any mom should see.
Based on her experience as a NYC nanny for a well-to-do familly, Lisa's story follows the nanny career of a wannabe actress and the other nannies, grandmothers and children she meets. Filled with funny, and sometimes heart breaking takes on nanny diaries, the stories are moving, honest, and real. And, at the end of the day, or the play, we discover it doesn't matter if we are a working mom, a stay at home mom, a stay at home mom who works, or a working mom who stays at home, it is the babies, the children, and the kids, who need, want and love us, and those that love them, the most.
As if writing this down from personal experience as a NYC nanny isn't impressive enough, Lisa's solo performance is not just credible, it's terrific. Read the review.
