Introducing Weekday Event Picks for NYC Kids: Three Kings Day Parade, Free Frozen Screening & More January 5-9

NYC isn't called the city that never sleeps for nothing. The Big Apple buzzes with activities for all ages every day from morning to night. So in honor of the New Year, we're trying something new: Weekly roundups of the top five weekday event picks for families. Because in a vibrant town like ours, cool things to do with kids don't just happen on the weekend.

Monday, January 5
Community Cube: Frozen Party – South Street Seaport
One of our January GOList picks: Dress up like Anna, Elsa or Olaf and head to the Seaport's new heated activity tent for a full-fledged Frozen party complete with a screening of the Disney blockbuster, sing-alongs and themed crafts. Note: There are two sessions and one takes place after school! FREE.

Tuesday, January 6
Three Kings Day Parade – East Harlem
Another January GOList pick: Celebrate the "12th day of Christmas" at El Museo del Barrio's colorful procession featuring costumed school kids, live camels and sheep, floats, music and a trio of 12-foot-tall Magi puppets. The parade ends at La Marqueta where there will be performances and delicious eats from local vendors. FREE

Wednesday, January 7
MoMA Art Lab: Places & Spaces – Midtown West
Enjoy hands-on creative projects inspired by places and spaces at the Museum of Modern Art's recently opened art studio for kids. While at MoMA, don't miss its amazing Henri Matisse: The Cut-Outs exhibit. Free with admission: $25 for adults, free for children under age 17

Thursday, January 8
All Aboard with Thomas & Friends – Bronx
Now that the holiday crowds and prices have decreased, it's the perfect time to visit the New York Botanical Garden Holiday Train Show. Bonus: Special guests Thomas the Tank Engine and Driver Sam are also there doing live mini shows and greeting their young fans after each performance. Free with All-Garden Pass: $20 for adults, $10 for children ages 2-12

Winter After-school Sports – Battery Park City
Burn off excess energy at the Battery Park City Ball Fields where kids can enjoy organized games of flag football, soccer and other sports. All equipment provided. FREE
