It's officially spooky season in the Hudson Valley, and you won't want to miss a trip to Pumpkin World, the Hudson Valley's newest spectacular Halloween exhibition, featuring more than 5,000 artistically carved, lit pumpkins spread throughout Clover Stadium in Pomona. With the numerous activities for kids, plus food and beverages available for purchase, my family was able to enjoy a full evening at Pumpkin World, and everyone had something to do.

Read on for the scoop on this Hudson Valley Halloween attraction, which is one of our top Halloween events in the region. Find more Halloween fun in our Westchester and Hudson Valley Halloween Guide.

Guide to the Pumpkin World Jack-o'-Lantern Trail

As you enter the Pumpkin World trail, you are surrounded by a long line of jack-o'-lantern scarecrows leading up to a giant archway of pumpkins. More spectacular than scary, each exhibit has a theme and its own music to add to the ambience as well as fun additions like bubbles and colored light displays. After crossing through the giant pumpkin archway, the first exhibit is an African Savannah, featuring intricately detailed animals, including a lion and elephant, constructed using multiple pumpkins.

Since the trail is spread out across the stadium, there is space for multiple families and kids to move around and enjoy the exhibitions without being cramped or rushed through. The paths are also stroller-friendly, so babies can enjoy the fun, too.

Pumpkin World: Christmas pumpkins
Jack-o'-lanterns take on a wintery personality in one section of the Pumpkin World display.

Some kid favorites along the trail include a gallery of Disney princesses, Marvel and DC superheroes, and an entire lawn dedicated to dinosaurs, including an awesomely spooky T. rex. My son's favorite was the Christmas pumpkin exhibit, with all-white pumpkins and a snow machine providing a festive atmosphere. The trail finale is set up on the baseball field, with lights, music, and a giant pumpkin blowing smoke. Make sure you see this part after dark to get the full effect.

What really makes Pumpkin World stand out from other jack-o'-lantern trails is its Pumpkin Village. Kids can enjoy numerous activities like music and dancing, as well as pumpkin carving competitions, with an energetic host to entertain them. Adults can relax and appreciate the amazing pumpkin artwork while enjoying food and beverages, including beer and cider. This way, the whole family can make an entire evening of it.

How Much Time Will You Spend at Pumpkin World?

The jack-o'-lantern trail at Pumpkin World takes about 45 minutes, but you can walk at your own pace and spend as much time as you want. With all the activities in the Pumpkin World Pumpkin Village, I would say to allow at least 2 hours to enjoy everything.
