1. Over the Moon Ice Cream

This local ice cream place makes all its ice cream and novelty treats right here in Brewerytown. Their rocking flavors rotate regularly, and be sure not to miss their “hot pockets” – beignets stuffed with ice cream. 

2. The Monkey & The Elephant Cafe

This unique cafe with outside garden seating stocks children’s books and games for kids, and employs former foster youth. The cafe’s training program gives former foster youth key skills and support, and the charming cafe is a great place to chill out for a while with some caffeine, baked goods, and books. 

3. Le Cat Cafe

Book an hour at Philadelphia’s only cat cafe and enjoy coffee, hot chocolate, and time with the adoptable feline friends.

4. Brewerytown Food Hall 

This great big food hall has lots of options even for toddler tastes, plus it’s loud enough to cover normal kid noisiness. The relaxing atmosphere has some arcade games, and the food hall hosts holiday programs like an Easter egg hunt and brunch and cookies with Santa.

5. Brewerytown Garden

On summer Sundays, the Brewerytown Garden offers family programs like crafts, cooking, dancing, printmaking, and more! Plus the Garden offers a CSA and other garden produce goodies, making this a great spot to grab some groceries and teach little ones about growing and cooking food. 

6. Glendinning Rock Garden

Whether your family wants to fly a kite or have a picnic, this park, nestled under the Girard Bridge, is the perfect place to play or just get out some extra energy.

7. Kith and Kin

This sweet gathering place has a soft and dreamy quality – perfect for infants and toddlers to play. The 3,000 square feet space features a playhouse, infant pod, and more.

8. Cecil B. Moore branch of the Free Library

This library branch is not technically within the bounds of the neighborhood, but it’s a close enough walk, and the mini rock-climbing wall and other children’s programming are not to be missed! 

9. Athletic Rec Center and Athletic Square Park 

This historic rec center and the surrounding park pay homage to Philly’s baseball history, and it’s still a great place for kids and families to pick up a ball (or two) or scramble across the playground. Come summertime, the park also offers a pool and water playground. 

10. Schuylkill River Trail

This meandering multi-use trail winds its way for miles through Philadelphia and its surrounding counties, but for a few miles it goes right along the edge of Brewerytown. The Girard Bridge trailhead has a small parking area and the nearby Lloyd Hall trailhead has restrooms, drinking fountains, and a cafe open during warmer months to set your family up for a perfect day on the trail.
